Divine Creatures — Index

The world of Yggy distinguishes between three categories of entities that operate above the mortal scale. They are not interchangeable, and the difference matters for worship, lore, and mechanics.

The Three Categories

Pantheon Gods receive worship. They have churches, clergy, cults, or scattered shrines. They grant divine power — clerics, paladins, and warlocks draw from their domains. A god is their domain, or rules it absolutely. Their reach is interplanar; their attention can be drawn from anywhere.

Planar Deities also receive worship and grant divine power, but only within a single plane. They are gods in every functional sense — domains, pacts, clergy — but their reach does not extend beyond their native realm. They are not part of the main Yggy pantheon.

Divine creatures receive no worship. They may be appreciated, feared, or honored, but no formal religious structure forms around them. They grant no spells, take no warlocks, hold no domains. They are individuals — singular beings with personality and history — rather than embodiments of an idea. They may be tied to a god as pet, child, friend, or peer, but they operate on their own terms.

Quick test: Is this entity prayed to?

  • Yes, across realms → Pantheon God.
  • Yes, but only by one plane's natives → Planar Deity.
  • No, but mortals deal with them directly → Divine Creature.

The divine-creature category is defined by kind, not by power level. Some are companions. Some are continental disasters.
